If you love to send text messages to your friends and loved ones with a smiley face or some other kind that emphasizes your mood, get ready because an Emoji icon social networking site is on its way!
According to http://www.stuff.co.nz, the Emojli company will offer a social hangout site that will require users to communication with only… you guessed it Emoiji!
The site is scheduled to be launched in late July early August of 2014. More than 50,000 people have signed up to the site already, reserving one of just over 250,000 usernames of two emojis.
Founders Matt Gray and Tom Scott came up with the idea after chatting about the Yo app that only sends one word. The success of the app inspired Gray and Scott to come up with the idea of making “usernames icons too”.
For the skeptics (like myself) who wondered about the popularity (or need) for a site based on Emojli Icons, keep in mind that they are very popular.
According to NBC Nightly News, quirky symbols such as, heart symbols, crying happy face and the bemused face have been part of the phenomenon that’s been used over 4 billion times since 2013.
If you’d like to reserve a space on the site, visit Emojli and sign up!
