A new semester has arrived and with it a new challenge.
For the Spring 2012 term, I enrolled in the WNM 601 – OL1: MS: Inside Programming course, which focuses on a broad range of topics that include how computers work, how they are connected to each other, and how people use them.
Among some of the topics that we discussed initially, include: the importance of User Experience (UX) Design.
After going over the evolution of the personal computer, from the days of Graphical User Interface (GUI), the days of the Apple Macintosh (1984), where users where limited in how a computer could cater to their needs, to now where the UX is more customized.
We also talked about the significance of forming a team to implement computer-based design ideas.
The lecture pointed out that to have a successful project, team members need to be able to:
The key is to have different people with different talents.
However, if one person is able to assume all of the hats then this knowledge should provide a solid basis for your understanding of computers as a medium.
Anyhow, it should make for a great semester.
