Now, what are we to think of this?
PatentlyApple reports that Apple has been granted a patent for a steering-wheel-mounted remote control for various iDevices.
The patent describes a device that looks like a multi-touch controller similar to the original iPod but mounted on a car’s steering wheel. Once the device is attached to the outer rim of the wheel, the driver can control their iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone.
Good idea? I may have to disagree. This idea would seem to distract drivers from the road. They might as well, add a microwave oven or deep fryer for the road.
Now, there’s no guarantee that this product will ever hit the market. Like most companies, Apple is granted patents for the sake if just protecting their intellectual property. Some analysts speculate that Apple also files patents for wild ideas just to throw off the competition. This could easily fit into either of those categories.
